about
DESKPOP acts as a community facilitator often, connecting all types of fans and content creators. This time around we connected the game developer kleingeld with composer/producer Dorkus64. "home boy" is an AGameAWeek project kleingeld was working on. This is where game devs self impose a short time constraint to challenge themselves and hone their skills. When he reached out to DESKPOP looking for a title-screen song, it just so happened that Dorkus64 sent in some demos he made hot off the heels from his DESKPOP: Green Version appearance. "Chill Out" is a very Animal Crossing inspired track built for relaxation, and fits perfectly with the game "home boy" which is simply about doing some chores at home :~)
words from Dorkus64:
"I typically write more complicated music, so putting out minimalistic tracks like this is a little scary. However, I think this is just as compelling as anything else I’ve released, and it’s really cool to see my music in a game!"
Assets from the game were provided to Shady Monk, who combined them and added his own flair to create the album artwork! Check out his Instagram to see more (recently he helped DESKPOP create CD layouts for our Pink & Green compilations)
